Well, we have done it. Adrienne and I are now residents of Canada, as of yesterday. Weird. All this time thinking about it and planning and then suddenly it is a done deal. We are currently battling jetlag at Adrienne's parents' house in Port Alberni, on Vancouver Island. The sun is shining, which makes a change from the last two weeks in London. Everything has gone really smoothly, all things considered, which is largely due to the masterful organisational skillz of Adrienne. We even got through customs without too much rigarmarole, which was nice. Not that we were trying to import anything controversial, officer.
I suppose it will take a little while for it to really sink in that I am now a Canadian resident, everything feels somewhat dreamlike at the moment, and not just because my biological clock is fritzed. However, I'm feeling very optimistic and looking forward to this next phase of our lives.
We will be spending around three weeks in the Vancouver area before driving down the coast to see friends in Seattle and San Francisco. Then we head across the US, stopping in Bloomington, Indiana to see our friends Michael and Tanja who have recently relocated there from Cambridge, before fetching up in Toronto at the end of August, where Adrienne will start her law degree at U of T and I, hopefully, will kick off my burgeoning freelance career in earnest. Should be fun!
And to all our friends in good old Blighty - we miss you already. Why not come over and visit us in Toronto? Ah go on. Go on go on go on.
Glad to see you arrived in two pieces. You must now:
1. Change your 'email me' link on here.
2. Mail me, so I have a new email address!
3. Become interested in 'hockey' as they (sorry, you) amusingly call it.
4. Talk funny.
Lots of love,
-C

Eh?
Actually, it's pronounced (and spelt) Kanadia. As in "how's that Kanadia working out for ya, eh?"

Dude, glad you made it! I will, I'm sure, contact you with various trivia that pops into my mind, but for now I would just like to offer up praise to Krishna/Budda/Allah/Shiva and, um God, for you safe arrival.
Until we speak again...

Abes.
Are you feeling freaked out? You should. What god's name are you playing at? Leaving Blighty? For Canada? ARE YOU CRAZY? At least you can look at the banknotes if you get homesick, I suppose.
Love to you and the Adriennester.
Tim
PS it's hot today.
