Happy New Year to you, my legion of avid readers! I hope you all had an entirely splendid and restful holiday? Good, me too. We had a relatively calm and quiet christmas day (iPods all round!) then went up to North Norfolk for a couple of days where we caught up with my cousins Sal (and her partner Jay) and Alex (and his daughters Amber (7) and Poppy (5, but remarkably loud...:D)). Amber was telling Adrienne that she didn't have dreams when she came to Wells because the fairies didn't know where to find her. When Adrienne asked what kind of fairies, Amber looked bemused and patiently explained 'NORMAL fairies', as if to a slightly slow person. So that was funny.
I also got some climbing shoes since I'm going to start rock climbing again soon. w00t! Speaking of, check out my extremely new and almost content-free climbing video blog - www.dynomovies.com. Will be filling up with lovely stuff as the year progresses. There are two fairly impressive clips there already, so it might be worth a quick look...your call.
I'm going to try to blog fairly regularly this year, if I can drag myself away from twitter (go sign up, now, you won't regret it!) and even have plans to launch a couple (maybe more) new blogging ventures in my copious spare time (which I'll enjoy spending in front of the computer, natch). They will mostly be video aggregation blogs on particular niche topics, as this means I don't need to think of anything clever or interesting to write, since youtube et al will kindly provide my content (thanks!) and I can just add the occassional snarky comment. Which is nice. Steven (Berlin) Johnson has coined the term 'para-site' for this type of venture, which is kinda clever...
Anyway, personally speaking, 2006 sucked in large part, then got better towards the end, but I feel strangely positive about 2007, both personally and in terms of, you know, humanity. Who knows why, but I've decided to be optimistic that this is the year when we collectively really start to turn things around, realise we are all in the same boat together, are interdependent, must adopt sustainable ways of living and peace and love and yadda yadda yadda...
Hope you have a great year, let's be good to each other. Deal?
It's a deal, Sweetie.
Love from Mum
